Thermal Imaging Inspection of Electrical, Switch Panels, Transmission Poles and Lines
Showalter Property Consultants offers thermal inspections of electrical switch panels, transmission poles, and lines to perform preemptive and preventative inspections of electrical systems and components. Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment such as a FLIR T-865 and FLIR E-96 thermal camera to identify potential fire risks due to elevated temperatures identified with these high-tech infrared cameras. We will capture and document the interior of these panels and put them into a written computer to generate a report using FLIR Thermal Studio Pro. Many insurers require thermal inspection of electrical and switch panels.
A Showalter Property Consultants inspector can open many single-phase and three-phase panels. However, larger switch panels may have a stand-back line requirement, requiring electrical power to open these panels for safety purposes.
In some cases, infrared (IR) windows enable infrared inspections of electrical equipment without requiring the removal of dead front covers. They are installed on electrical panel doors to protect inspectors, electricians, and engineers from the risk of electrocution and arc flash.
Also, utilizing a Fluke 378 FC clamp meter allows an inspector to quickly identify problems with a three-phase electrical service by providing accurate voltage and current
Measurements on each phase, including phase rotation, can reveal imbalances or potential issues within the system. The meter also uses its non-contact voltage measurement feature for added safety, essentially enabling quick and comprehensive analysis of the three-phase power supply.
Any critical equipment, such as computers and routers, should be connected to a UPS for backup in case a breaker is inadvertently tripped during this process.
The client or occupant should have clear access to all equipment so that the inspector can safely access and remove any covers or dead fronts.
